At NPCP, we take a holistic and client-centred approach to psychological assessment, ensuring each individual's unique needs are understood and addressed with care and expertise.
Natalie is a highly experienced clinical psychologist with over 15 years of practice supporting children, adolescents, adults, and families across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and surrounding regions. She has developed extensive expertise in psychological assessment, with a particular focus on cognitive and academic functioning.
Natalie utilises the latest evidence-based tools, including the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V) and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition (WIAT-III). These assessments, combined with detailed parent and child interviews, inform comprehensive reports tailored to each client’s needs. Reports include personalised insights and practical recommendations to support learning, development, and future planning.

A comprehensive assessment of cognitive functioning using the WISC V or the WAIS IV (for children and adults) plus an assessment of adaptive behaviour using the ABAS-3 (Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, Third Edition). This is usually required for NDIS assessments and situations requiring a diagnosis of intellectual disability.
A comprehensive assessment of a child's cognitive functioning and their academic skills in areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics. This assessment identifies learning strengths and challenges to support tailored educational planning, and can provide a diagnosis of specific learning disorder (otherwise known as dyslexia, dysgraphia and/or dyscalculia) if appropriate. This assessment uses the WISC V and the WIAT III.

Cognitive and academic achievement assessments can provide valuable insights into your child’s learning profile, strengths, and areas of difficulty. These assessments help to identify how your child thinks, processes information, and performs in key academic areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
Parents often seek assessment when their child is:
The results of a thorough assessment can help guide targeted support at school and home. They may also assist in identifying specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia or dyscalculia), intellectual disability, intellectual giftedness, or other developmental concerns.
A cognitive and/or academic assessment empowers families with a deeper understanding of their child’s needs and provides clear, personalised recommendations to support their learning, wellbeing, and future goals.
Cognitive and academic assessments can play an important role in supporting applications or reviews for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). These assessments provide formal, evidence-based information about a child’s functional capacity, learning needs, and developmental profile.
They can help:
Having a comprehensive assessment can give families clarity, strengthen NDIS requests, and ensure that the supports being sought are aligned with your child’s individual needs and goals.
The assessment process begins with the completion of a consent form and a detailed parent or adult questionnaire to gather relevant background and historical information. The assessment is conducted in person over one or two sessions, depending on the specific requirements. Most of the assessment is completed using an iPad, supplemented by workbook tasks.
Once the assessment is finalised and results are available, Natalie will discuss the findings with the parent/adult, clarify any additional background information if needed, and provide tailored recommendations. A comprehensive psychometric report will then be supplied to the parent/adult for their use. They may choose to share this report with schools, GPs, NDIS providers, or other relevant parties as appropriate.
Natalie graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Masters of Clinical Psychology (with Distinction), and a Bachelor of Psychology (with Honours).
